About Mike

Mike Gilbert believes anyone can become an effective follower of Christ — and be equipped to help others do the same, regardless of where they’ve been. That conviction sits at the center of everything he teaches.

His path there wasn’t a straight line. Mike served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Gulf War before going on to earn his Ph.D. from Regent University. He’s since taught in both secular and religious settings — universities and ministries alike — and authored published work on discipleship and leadership.

But Mike is quick to point out that none of that is the point. As he puts it, drawing on Philippians 3:1–11, knowing Christ is the one achievement that outweighs every credential. That’s the lens through which he now develops leaders: not by importing modern methods onto Scripture, but by teaching people to see themselves the way the biblical writers did — through their language, culture, and worldview.
